Before and after: I had high hopes for this salad, duck and hoisin being one of my favourite Asian food pairings. To be sure, it’s a thoroughly enjoyable plate of food, with one big but. Watermelon being the harbinger of summer, I’ll never cease to enjoy the coolness this fruit brings to any dish. Unfortunately, it loses much of that fraîcheur because of the hot, hot duck meat. If you’ve ever experienced the taste of warm watermelon, you’ll see the problem. That being said, both Mrs Pomegranate and I were still fans.
